DATABASE RESOURCE IN G.I.S FLOOD SIMULATIONS

ABSTRACT - This paper purpose is to present some general issues concerning databases associated with GIS and in particular the databases necessary in GIS flood simulations. There are a variety of database structures that can be used to store data about spatial features. As database systems we mention RDBMS (Relational Database Management Systems), OODBMS (Object Oriented Database Management Systems) and ORDBMS (Object Relational Database Management Systems). One common feature is the retrieval system that is based on SQL (Structured Query Language).
